Chaidomains.com along with three other closely related websites are about to become what they were planned to become. The author and publisher of these affiliated websites had hoped to grow these pages in a specific direction.

Anyone with even the most basic familiarity with the overly broad category of;  ”New Beginnings”, should at least have a rudimentary understanding of the concept that once an idea is planted into some level of physicality, the idea then begins to develop and take on an existence of its own.

It Should Not Be Surprising To Anyone, that ChaiDomains.com as its names implies seek to bind together at least two or more fundamental concepts:

Chai: Is a combination of two Hebrew letters; The Hebrew letter Chet (or Ches) which is on the right (remember Hebrew is read from right to left) followed by the Hebrew letter Yud.

Now suffice it to say for right here, right now, that there are all sorts of mystical explanations regarding significance of these letters. Therefore it is mentioned here, and further explored in this growing family of website.

Simple Explanation: Each letter in addition to its sound value, also has a numeric value. The numeric value of Chet (or Ches) as the 8th letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet (alphabet) is the number eight (8). While the Yud -which is the tenth (10th) letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet, (yet it is the 1st letter in perhaps the most universal of G-d’s holy names) has the value of ten (10).

Together these two letters combine to form the number 18. More important then the numeric value of the these two letters, is the word that is formed by them. The word formed by the two Hebrew letters is the word Chai, which means life. When charity is given, or pledges are made to synagogues, shuls or other Jewish causes, it is often given in multiples of 18.

For example after being called to the Torah for an Aliyah the person who is called will be:

1) Expected to give his name to the person who calls him up, his Hebrew name followed by his fathers Hebrew name: For example, Aharon Moshe (my name) ben (son of) Dovid, (fathers Hebrew name).

After the person called

After the person who was called to the Torah says the last bracha, one of the people who stand by the Torah may ask if you want to give a special bracha called a Mi Shebeirach prayer. If you see say yes, nod your head or otherwise indicate that you want this, you will then be asked for your Hebrew name, and your mother’s Hebrew name. [ It's good to know this in advance if your expecting an Aliyah, or if you will be trying to get called to the Torah ] .

[ More on this elsewhere, however you could always simply say your mothers English name. ]

The salient point I am trying to make in seeking to conclude this already verbose piece ( which will either merit it’s own post within either this website or its affiliated websites) is that if you do opt for the- Mi Shebeirach prayer-option, you will now be asked to supply more Hebrew names of your friends, relatives, close family, or anyone who might benefit from a prayer for general well being including any healing needed from physical ailments.

Within the formula for this bracha, the person who is next to you at the Torah will look at you, and ask you for a pledge (or a donation) to be made to the Shul. To end this long story, a typical and acceptable donation would be, Chai (18) dollars. So you can simply now say Chai dollars, and someone from the side of the Torah, may hand you an envelope within it there will be a card with a paper clip on Chai, or eighteen ($18.00) dollars.

Also, one should be aware, that Mi Shebeirach prayers do not need to be said after each of the Aliyahs and there is one said for the entire congregation towards the end of the Torah reading.

Finally, this website has actually only been around for less than a year. However one could see that the domain name was purchased (or created) on August 22, 2008. This lends a little bit of credence to one of my theories regarding an idea manifesting itself in the world of action in which we live.

Humble Beginnings-A Name

I call this Seed theory and have written about it elsewhere on the World Wide Web.

The theory, goes like this. An idea like a seed, arrives at is destination, sometimes simply blown or carried in on by a random wind or possibly as a result of the actions of others. Other seeds (very similar or nearly identical in their genetic “information” code) may arrive either close by or at great distances apart (be it by space or even by time).

There is often a latency period, during which this seed (idea) can survive, in its un-manifest state, as simply an idea, a plan, a set of instructions. However the seed, the idea, must also find a suitable “planting ground” for wind blown seed is not very likely to sprout. Just as a rolling stone, gathers no moss.

Therefore the seed (Idea) may exist in its latent stage, until it at last finds its suitable ground. Then, by the mysterious unseen processes it undergoes many changes. Sometimes for various reasons the seedling never pokes its head from beneath the dark soil. This of course is quite common in that there are truly no shortage of ideas. Some simply do not land in the right kind or soil in the right season, or for so many other reasons by which this already extended metaphor can be further extended.

However the system that is often referred to by may as nature itself, (others likely more correctly refer to as G-d) which produces such a great abundance of diverse things, will also produce some seeds-ideas, which will be able to develop rapidly enough, sending out extensive networks of “root-like” structures. These essential elements are required to bring in the material that is required for the the seed to survice long enough, and yes, even into its 3rd year.

Now as Chaidomains.com enters its third year of existence, its owner, publisher, website developer would like to state on the record a connection lending a bit of divine providence, hopefully to guide it through its next phase. I was going to search out the source however this “supposed half hour project” has itself transformed or evolved into an over three hour project.

The prohibition from collecting the fruit of a tree that is less than three years old, according to my Litvish friends simply means, just that, if a tree is less than three years, you keep this Mitzvah by not collecting, selling,consuming, or otherwise utilizing its fruits.

My Chassidish friends (which by the way includes my own outlook), might seek out a possibly larger or more in depth understanding of the concept. I will share my take on this mitzvah before looking up what others have written. The concept I embrace goes like this (and it embraces my unique perspective, and individual connection I make and constantly strive to make with eternal concepts from our Holy Torah):

During the difficult time where a seed (idea) finally lands into its proper niche at the proper time, it is highly vulnerable. It has also like undergone some significant adversity to have finally gotten to where it has obtained the difficult state of actually producing fruits.

[ In my over-riding concept here ]-

It is my belief that a true staring point for a business or venture, is when another person (other than the originator of the idea) becomes involved either by effort, work, or investment. The starting point therefore reflects an active belief that the “Idea” (seed) has now become viable enough that it can start to produce fruits.

However we should avoid the taking or utilizing of these fruits, out of concern for the Tree itself which has certainly undergone a major transformation from something which contained only a potential, to something which now had the power to carry the unique instructions that were “encoded into it, by its creator” into future generations.

Seed theory when I had first envisioned was a take off from an earlier concept which I had learned while attending Hofstra University called automatic writing. The theory, in a nutshell (I am aware of the pun) states that a n idea for a business or venture goes through a series a phases closely analogous to what a seed goes through.

PS: The final concept to be expressed is that this domain as part of its concept will gratefully accept donations in any amount yet it does expect to be able to put things back into “the resource pool” and therefore will do its utmost to donate a set amount to other causes which are in line with its principles, and in line with the desires of its supporters.

PSS: There are many things which observant Jews all over the world perform or keep as part of our religious observance which are not often fully detailed in our Holy Torah, the Five Books of Moshe. Yet we as a people ardently hold on to these traditions, sometimes comprehending all their esoteric qualities, and sometimes out of a desire to simply follow the lifestyle given to us by our creator.
